It was a privilege to be asked to judge at the Society Open Show, and to have such a lovely entry both numerically and in quality of dogs. Thank you to my ring stewards for keeping things running smoothly. It was very encouraging to see so many quality youngsters making things look promising for the future of the breed.
Minor Puppy Dog 2
1st. Holder & Howe's Mascott's Lowry: A lovey 6 month youngster,
excellent head and expression, good neck into correct shoulder, nice front,
deep chest. Good rib cage and length of loin, broad hindquarters with good
angulation. Correct tail set and carriage. Moved very well, a good prospect for
the future.
2nd. Irvine & Sadler's Heliodor Ranger of the Shire: 9 months,
taller than 1 and not the curves at the moment but this will hopefully come as
he settles into his frame. Good head, long neck, deep chest, good tuck-up. Tail
set OK but would like a longer tail. Good coat texture. Moved OK.
Puppy Dog 6
1st. Goodson's Moralach The Gambling Man: Just over 9 months, a very
nice young boy. Excellent head and soft expression, long strong neck into
correct shoulder. Forechest good, deep chest, good rib cage and length to loin.
Strong hindquarters used well on the move. Lovely bone, tight feet. I am sure
this boy has a bright future. BPD
2nd. Treadwell's Hibeck Hugo Boss at Floydian: Another just over 9
months. Lovely head and expression, very strong neck, good front, deep well
ribbed body, topline needs to settle as high over the loin at present. Strong
broad hindquarters with enough angulation. Excellent bone. Long tail carried
well. Moved well.
3rd. Pask's Baronglen The Lawman
Junior Dog 7 (2 abs)
1st. Macaulay's Gartlove Goraidh: Just 12 months, A very shapely young
boy, very nice head and expression, long neck into good shoulder and upper arm,
deep chest long rib cage, correct length to loin. Plenty of width and sweep to
stifle, low hocks. Plenty of bone, good muscle tone, moved well.
2nd. Pateman's Nellwyn's Mr Heathcliffe: 15 months, a tall dog, looks
mature for his age, masculine head, strong neck, decent shoulder and forechest.
Excellent coat texture, well off for bone, moved well. A little overweight at
the moment.
3rd. Griffin's Kilrein Red River
Class 4 Yearling Dog 9 (3 abs)
1st. Stirling's Clanlily Barron of the Glen: Lovely type, he is maturing
very nicely. A shapely well balanced hound with good head and soft expression,
long neck into excellent shoulder. Good forechest and depth of chest, well
ribbed back, good tuck up. Good topline, strong hindquarters with good sweep to
stifle. In good muscular condition which showed on the move as he flowed round
the ring. Well presented and handled.
2nd. Cramphorn's Yelxba Perseus: Different type to 1, old fashioned
masculine head, strong neck, good shoulder. Well off for bone. Not the topline
of 1, good width over hind quarters, moved well.
3rd. Macaulay's Pitlochry's Gabor for Gartlove
Class 5 Novice Dog 8
1st. Griffin's Kilrein Red Ruin: Just 12 months, another with old
fashioned head, neat ears, strong neck, decent shoulder, ribbed well back. Good
width to hindquarters, a little unsettled on the move but saw glimpses of good
movement. Good tail set and carriage, tight feet, correct coat texture.
2nd. Catlow's Laoiseach Cariad Conri: A more mature dog than 1, lovely
head soft expression, strong neck, good shoulder, deep chest, strong
hindquarters, good width to stifle. Moved well
3rd. Treadwell's Hibeck Dizzy Rascal at Floydian
Class 6 Postgraduate Dog 6
1st. Dawson's Conmeryl Detroit by Shalico: This well balanced dog is
maturing well, nice head, neat ears, plenty of furnishings. Strong neck into
correct shoulder and upper arm all making for an excellent forechest. Deep
chest well ribbed back, correct length to loin, correct topline held on the
move. Broad over hindquarters, good width and sweep to stifle. Good bone. Moved
very well. BD & RBIS
2nd. Timmin's Ballyphelan Panther Cornovi: Strong masculine head, neat
ears, long strong well muscled neck, good shoulder, not the front of 1, deep
chest well ribbed back, Lovely outline standing, lost a little on the move.
Plenty of muscle all through. Excellent coat texture in lovely condition. Moved
well, expertly handled.
3rd. Canavan's Laoiseach Cariad Ruairi
Class 7 Limit Dog. 2 (1 abs)
1st. Sumner's DukesarumTaddeus: Stood alone in this class but still
deserved his 1st place. A tall masculine dog with such a kind head and
expression, strong neck, good upper arm and front. Deep chest, well ribbed
back, good topline, correct tail set and carriage. Lovely mover, can really
stride out.
Class 8 Open Dog 8 (2 abs)
1st. Sumner's Ballyphelan Othello: Workmanlike hound, strong masculine
head, strong neck, deep chest, good topline. Good width and plenty of curves to
hindquarters. Excellent coat, good bone, tight feet, well muscled all through.
Steady mover, well handled. RBD
2nd. Pordhams Solstrand Arthur Ardfhuil: A super head with lovely
expression. Strong neck into correct shoulder, plenty of forechest, good lay of
upper arm. Deep chest, good length to rib cage and correct length to loin. Has
good topline and strong hindquarters. He doesn't do himself justice on the move
but a lovely dog.
3rd. Sumner's Dukesarum Titus
Class 9 Veteran Dog 2 (1 abs)
1st. Ward's Rathdaws Porthos at Backtor: Just 8yrs old and enjoying his
day. A very tall masculine dog, good bone, tight feet, excellent coat texture
and in good condition. Showing his age on the move.
Class 10 Minor Puppy Bitch 3
Three very nice puppies in this class.
1st. Tebbutt's Glengail Liona: A super 6 month baby, lovely head,
softest expression. Has a well arched neck, correct shoulder and plenty of
forechest. Top and underlines just flow to make a lovely picture. Good breadth
over hindquarters. Correct tail set and carriage. Plenty of bone. Moved very
well for one so young. This young lady never stopped wagging her tail. Must
have a bright future. BP
2nd. Holder & Howe's Mascott's Lottie: 6 months, another very nice
puppy. Super neck, and shoulder, good front, well ribbed back. Good
hindquarters used well on the move. Good bone. A very steady mover, handled
well. Another one with a bright future.
3rd. Bradley's Glengail Nniamh
Class 11 Puppy Bitch 8 (2 abs)
1st. McCall's McLight Star Light: 11 months, a very sweet head and
expression, long neck, good lay of shoulder, deep chest, good ribcage, a little
long in loin. Strong hindquarters, correct tail set and carriage. Moved very
well.
2nd. Dawson's Shalico Tumbling Dice: 11 months, taller than 1 but still
looking a baby. A strong muscular neck into decent shoulder. Chest needs to
drop but I am sure this will come. Long legs with plenty of bone, tight feet.
Plenty of hind angulation, moved well.
3rd. Pask's Baronglen Miss Lilybet
Class 12 Junior Bitch 8 (2 abs)
1st. Goodall's Driftcot Erin Brockovich: Nearly 13 months. Another
promising youngster, she has a lovely head, strong neck into correct shoulder,
good forechest and depth to chest. Good top- and underline, plenty of bone,
straight legs, tight feet. Correct tail set and carriage. Moved with free and
easy stride.
2nd. Macaulay's Gartlove Ghleanngordania: 16 months, another promising
youngster and I am sure these two will change places another time. Nice head
and expression, long neck, good shoulders and front, well ribbed back. Strong
hindquarters, good sweep to stifle, long stride, moved out well.
3rd. Johnson & Parsons Nellwyn's Miss Saigon
Class 13 Yearling Bitch 5 (3 abs)
1st Cramphorn's Yelxba Mera: Old fashioned houndy head, tight rose ears,
strong neck, good shoulder, deep chest, good length to upper arm and rib cage.
Well off for bone, well arched tight feet. Strong hindquarters, moved with
free-flowing stride.
2nd. Sander's Princess Ebony at Sanderstown: Different type to 1 and
giving her handler a hard time, a very spirited girl. Pretty head. Good ears.
Good top- and underline, longer cast than 1. Good angulation to hind quarters,
hope she settles on the move. A nice bitch.
Class 14 Novice Bitch 9 (1 abs)
1st. Painter's Driftcot Bridget Jones: Sister to 1st in Junior Bitch,
Pretty head, strong neck, plenty of forechest, good bone. Flowing top and
underline. Strong hindquarters with good width and sweep to stifle. Moved very
well.
2nd. Tebbutt's Glengail Liona
3rd. Stirling's Clanliy Sky of Diamonds
Class 15 Post Graduate Bitch 10 (4 abs)
1st. Ashby's Ashgrove Tumbulgum: Not the tallest bitch but very nice,
prettiest head, lovely dark pigment, tight ears. Good neck, shoulder and
forechest. Deep chest, well sprung rib cage, correct length to loin. Strong
hindquarters which she used well on the move.
2nd. Court's Ravensbch Valeria: Lovely head and kind expression, strong
neck, flowing top and underline. Good length of leg, good bone. Plenty of width
and sweep of stifle. Moved well.
3rd. Neal's Mascott's Another Dreamer at Cahmega
Class 16 Limit Bitch 13 (9 abs)
1st. Wilkinson's Cairnstorm Vermillion via Hunacres: A very feminine
bitch, kindest head and expression. Neck flows into correct shoulder, good
front, straight legs, good bone, tight feet. With her flowing top- and under
line, strong curvy hindquarters she looks very elegant as she moves freely
round the ring. Really liked her.
2nd. Holder & Howe's Mascotts Another Story: Lovely head, strong
neck, good shoulder and topline. Good width all through, nice angulation,
correct croup and tail carriage. Plenty of width and sweep to stifle. Moved
well.
3rd. Macaulay's Gartlove Galen Kelsaa
Class 17 Open Bitch 8 (4 abs)
1st. Sumner's Ballyphelan Damson: A quality black bitch with lovely grey
head giving soft expression. Plenty of substance all through and in excellent
muscle tone. Correct harsh coat in lovely condition. Strong neck, into correct
shoulder. Plenty of forechest, good upper arm. Flowing top- and underline,
powerful hindquarters used well on the move, has great drive. I liked her a
lot. BB & BIS.
2nd. Tebbutt's Caredig Grace: Lovely old fashioned head, plainer than 1.
Strong neck, deep chest plenty of width. Good bone and tight feet, plenty of
width over hindquarters and good angulation. Moved very well.
3rd. Goodson's Ainsea First Lady of Moralach.
Class 18 Veteran Bitch 6 (4 abs)
Two lovely veteran ladies.
1st. Gilbert's Anstyarna Bizzy Be: 9yrs, lovely head and soft
expression. In good muscle tone, moving very well. Has good bone, tight feet
and keeping her topline on the move. Enjoying her day, a credit to her owners.

2nd. Barnes Hazianne Mary Kate Danahur: 7 ½ yrs with nice head and
soft expression. Deep chest, good bone. Just losing her topline on the move but
still striding out well.
