Judge's Report for
Championship Show,
September 26th 2004

I like to thank the Irish Wolfhound Society for this invitation and especially I like to thank my hardworking stewards. I was pleased with my entry of 147 Hounds although I regretted the many absentees due to a high peak of show events. I understand travelling around can have its limits. I was also very pleased with the large exhibition hall and the excellent ground which gave me the opportunity to evaluate the movement on a correct way.

Generally I found the overall quality of your bitches higher than the dogs and one bitch class especially (Special Yearling Bitch) I found full of quality. I am sure that in the next future these bitches will be in hard competition.

Temperaments were very good and I did not find too many light eyes or bad mouths. Some ear-carriages were not too good (too heavy) but we remark this problem all over the world. Most of the rear angulations were correct but I remarked in quite some dogs that the hock movement could be firmer.

More attention has to be paid to front angulations as some shoulder angulations were rather poor. The coat condition was in general good and nicely trimmed, not in the "overdone way" as we usually do on the continent.

Class 1 - Puppy Dog
