History of the Irish
|
The Rally, 2001This was held on Sunday, June 24th at Grazeley Village Hall, near Reading. The weather was wonderful, if perhaps a bit too hot, but luckily the Hall has several mature trees in its grounds so there was plenty of shade.
There was a good crowd of hounds with their families and other canine companions. The picture above was taken early before any events started. Jack Chisnall gave a talk on natural feeding, entitled Give Your Dog a Bone and based on the book of that title by Dr. Ian Billinghurst.
Chris MacLeod gave a demonstration on grooming and stripping out a hound for the show ring.
There was a fun Match which just about everyone entered. This was for Dog with the waggiest tail, Dog the judge would most like to take home, Dog with the longest beard and so on. All the winners received a Certificate, as well as bags of goodies for the dogs.
There were lots of entries for the Match, which was judged by Keith Harmer. Puppies were judged first, followed by adults and then veterans.
There were four Veterans, the oldest of which was the dog on the left of the picture at nearly 10 years. The Best Veteran was the second from the left, Hope owned by Jim and Brenda Millard.
